Workforce development program participants

In communities across Puerto Rico, the gap between available talent and available opportunity is not a matter of will — it's a matter of access. Thousands of working-age adults possess the drive and determination to build better lives, but lack the technical skills, credentials, or professional networks required to land quality employment.

PSI's workforce development program was designed to close that gap. Since its inception, the program has connected more than 1,250 residents to stable, quality jobs — transforming individual lives and strengthening entire communities in the process.

A Comprehensive Approach

Unlike traditional job training programs that focus narrowly on technical skills, PSI's model addresses the full spectrum of barriers that prevent people from accessing and sustaining employment. The program integrates:

"We don't just train people for jobs — we prepare them for careers. That means addressing everything from skills gaps to childcare needs."

Meeting Employers Where They Are

A key differentiator of PSI's approach is its deep engagement with local employers. Before designing each training cohort, the team conducts extensive outreach to businesses in sectors with the highest growth potential — including healthcare, technology, hospitality, and construction.

This employer-first approach ensures that graduates possess the exact skills and certifications that local businesses need, dramatically improving placement rates and job retention. Current partnerships span more than 40 employers across the island.

The Numbers Tell the Story

The impact of PSI's workforce programs is measured not just in placements, but in sustained outcomes. Key metrics include:

Beyond Employment

For many participants, the program's impact extends far beyond the paycheck. Access to stable employment creates a cascade of positive outcomes: improved housing stability, better health outcomes for families, increased educational investment in children, and stronger community engagement.

As PSI prepares to open the Oasis 360 campus, workforce development will be one of the hub's cornerstone services — available alongside healthcare, education, childcare, and entrepreneurship support. The integration of these services under one roof represents the next evolution of PSI's proven model.

"When you give someone the skills to earn a good living, you're not just changing their life. You're changing their family's trajectory for generations."
